Currently, we’re tracking not one but four potential tropical storms that could have an impact on the future weather of the areas of the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic. The first storm is Tropical Storm Ana the first named storm of the El Nino pattern effected, late coming, hurricane season. TS Ana is currently not expected to develop hurricane strength at this time and is currently projected to track on the eastern edge of the Caribbean Sea bringing high winds heavy rain and storm surges to the Caribbean Islands in its path before pushing over western Cuba and into the Gulf of Mexico sometime between Wednesday and Thursday of the coming week. (Editor’s Note: As of Sunday PM, TS Ana has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression by the NHC)
Our third and fourth entries into the tropical storm sweepstakes are called Invest 90 and Invest 91, one a gathering storm, Invest 91, in the Gulf of Mexico off southwestern Florida that the U.S. National Hurricane Center has noted, has the potential for tropical storm development, and the other Invest 90, a tropical weather pattern off of the southwestern Florida panhandle in the Gulf of Mexico.
NHC:Tropical Storms (Editor’s Note: As of Sunday Afternoon EST, the NHC Reports that Invest 90 is now classified as Tropical Storm Claudette)
We would remind our readers that the information here is being reported as of the date and time of this report and is subject to change and is entirely based on current weather reporting as of this time from the NHC and major weather reporting outlets. If you have travel plans to the Mexican Caribbean, the issue may not be Caribbean related but from a travel standpoint, for airports, that could potentially be effected in the near future, in the southeastern U.S. attempting to fly to the Mexican Caribbean. In short, we are not advising against travel to Cancun, quite the opposite, however, do check your originating U.S. destinations for potential future delays in leaving the U.S.
